Since 2008, the Evergreen Underground Water Conservation District has been providing scholarships to students across the district. For this year's scholarship, the education committee challenged students to design a campaign poster that calls for action within their community to conserve and protect groundwater. This year, Evergreen proudly awarded four scholarships to seniors throughout the district: one recipient from Atascosa, one from Karnes, one from Wilson County, and one grand prize winner.
Scholarship Recipients
- Atascosa County: Victoria Veale from Pleasanton High School
- Karnes County: Elizabeth Lee from Falls City High School
- Wilson County: Cambree Simmonds from La Vernia High School
- Grand Prize Winner: Kiera Wiatrek from Jourdanton High School
The Evergreen team was honored to a ttend the high school scholarship award ceremonies and banquets, where board members presented the students with their scholarship certificates at their respective ISD locations.
On May 29, scholarship recipients were invited to the Evergreen Board Meeting to be celebrated for their hard work and dedication to furthering their education. Three of the recipients attended, had the opportunity to meet with board members, and shared a bit about themselves. The Evergreen also expressed the importance of community engagement in groundwater conservation and protection.
The Evergreen looks forward to continuing the scholarship program as a way to give back to the communities and support students in their educational pursuits. This year's student submissions will be displayed in the lobby, and Evergreen will donate a copy to schools or libraries in the respective communities.

Grand Prize Recipient
This years Grand Prize recipient is Kiera Wiatrek from Jourdanton High School. She is planning to attend Texas A&M University to study international affairs.
Pleasanton ISD -
Victoria Veale
Atascosa County
The Atascosa county scholarship recipient for the scholarship this year was Victoria Veale from Pleasanton High School. She will also be attending Texas A&M University in the fall to study Economics.
La Vernia ISD -
Cambree Simmonds
Wilson County
The Wilson county scholarship Recipient is Cambree Simmonds from Falls City High School. Lee is attending Texas Tech and she will be studying Cellular and Molecular Biology in the fall.
Falls City ISD-
Elizabeth Lee
Karnes County
The Karnes county scholarship Recipient is Elizabeth Lee from Falls City High School. Lee is attending The University of Texas at Austin and she will be studying Human Dimensions of Organizations in the fall.
